TRITONUS wurde 1972 von dem Keyboarder, Komponisten und Produzenten Peter Seiler gegründet. Von Anfang war geplant, orchestrale, konzertante Rockmusik zu machen, der die klassische Musik als Fundament dienen sollte. Einer ersten selbst produzierten Single ("The Way of Spending Time") folgte dann 1975 das Debütalbum "Tritonus" bei Bellaphon, das für viel Aufsehen sorgte. Ebenfalls bei Bellaphon kam im September 1976 das zweite Album "Between The Universes", mit dem die Band ihren Stil gefunden hatte. Noch mehr als zuvor bestimmte der Synthesizer das Klangbild von TRITONUS, das Album brachte Peter Seiler zudem den Ruf ein, bester deutscher Synthesizerspieler dieses Genres zu sein. Das Album wurde ausgiebig live vorgestellt und erzielte großartige Kritiken in der Presse. Am 23.4.1977 traten TRITONUS dann beim WDR mit klassischem Chor und großer Pfeifenorgel auf, das Konzert wurde aufgezeichnet und im Zuge der beliebten Reihe "Nachtmusik im WDR" ausgestrahlt.

Zu dem Zeitpunkt bestand die Besetzung bestand die Band neben Mastermind Peter Seiler aus Rolf D. Schnapka (Bass, Gesang) und Arthur Weiss (Schlagzeug). Diese drei traten dann auch am 14.10.1977 im Stagge's Hotel in Osterholz-Scharmbeck auf. Nach einer weiteren Single ("Trojan Horse") lösten sich TRITONUS auf. Zuvor hatte Peter Seiler bereits mit "Keyboard & Friends" ein vielbeachtetes Debütalbum eingespielt. Nach dem Ende von TRITONUS startete er eine bis heute andauernde erfolgreiche Solokarriere.

TRITONUS was founded in 1972 by keyboardist, composer and producer Peter Seiler. From the beginning the plan was to make orchestral rock music and classical music should serve as the foundation of the sound. The release of the self-produced single ("The Way of Spending Time") followed in 1975 the debut album "TRITONUS"(Bellaphon) which caused quite a stir. In September 1976, with the second album "Between The Universes" (Bellaphon) the band had found its ultimate sound. Even more than before the synthesizers determined the sound of TRITONUS, the album brought Peter Seiler also the reputation of being the best German synthesizer player of this genre. The album was presented live extensively and achieved great reviews in the press. In April 1977 TRITONUS gave an concert at WDR studio with classical choir and large pipe organ, the concert was recorded and broadcasted as part of the popular radio series "Nachtmusik im WDR".

At that time the band consisted of mastermind Peter Seiler and Rolf D. Schnapka (bass, vocals) and Arthur Weiss (drums). These three guys then also played the gig at Stagge's Hotel in Osterholz-Scharmbeck on 14.10.1977.
After another single ("Trojan Horse") TRITONUS disbanded. Previously Peter Seiler already had recorded with "Keyboard & Friends" a widely acclaimed debut album. After the end of TRITONUS he launched a successful solo career that still continues today.
